Accused shooter, accomplice indicted by grand jury

A Trumbull County grand jury indicted 42 people Tuesday, including two charged in connection to the shooting of a man in October and a woman accused of practicing nursing without a license. Dewayne L. Jordan, 25, Burton Street SE, Warren, is facing charges of aggravated burglary and felonious assault, both with a firearm specification, according to court documents.

Police raid illegal Warren chop shop; 2 arrested

Two men pleaded not guilty to charges of receiving stolen property Monday in Warren Municipal Court after they were arrested Friday during a police search of a property at 1241 Severn Court SE that was reported to have several Scott L. Pelton Jr., 21, 1241 Severn Court, Warren, and Jonathan Belt, 20, 2256 Moore Road, Orwell, were arraigned in hearings before Warren Municipal Court Judge Thomas Gysegem, according to court records. Each were assigned a $1,500 bond and are scheduled to appear in court at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, court records show.

GM to Close Five Plants

General Motors, Detroit, will close five facilities in North America as part of a cost-cutting restructuring plan. GM will close assembly plants in Oshawa, Ontario; Warren, Ohio; and Detroit; plus propulsion facilities in White Marsh, Md.; and Warren, Mich.

Warren fire crews battle blaze at former St. Joseph hospital

Warren fire crews were called out Sunday evening to battle a fire inside the former St. Joseph hospital off Tod Avenue NW that caused heavy smoke damage. Assistant fire Chief Rick Yauger said firefighters received a call around 5:30 p.m. of smoke coming from the abandoned building.

Lordstown expects to lose an additional $1 million a year in income tax generated at the plant, said village Mayor Arno Hill. The village already collected $1.5 million less in taxes in 2017, compared to 2016, after the loss of the third shift and multiple shutdowns last year.
