Upland is located in southeastern California. When it was founded, the city was a small rural town that had its foundation in agriculture, primarily citrus fruits and grapes. The city was incorporated in 1906, changing its original name of North Ontario to Upland. Today the city has attempted to preserve the small rural feel for which it was once known. The city is home to the Pipeline Skate Park, which opened in 1977, closed in 1988 and reopened in 1993.

A San Bernardino man died in a Saturday afternoon two-vehicle collision in Upland, the San Bernardino County Coroner reported Sunday. Pandapotan Simamora, 48, was declared dead at the scene of the 4:16 p.m. accident at 13th Street and Euclid Avenue, a news release said.

A man who was struck and killed by a train in Upland has been identified as Aldwin Moraga Lejarde, 39, of Ontario, San Bernardino County coroner's officials said.
