Torrance, California is located in the South Bay area in Los Angeles County. It has 1.5 miles of coastline and 90,000 trees along the city's streets. The land now known as Torrance was issued to Juan Jose Dominguez in the Rancho san Pedro Spanish Land Grant of 1784. In the early 1900s, Jared Sidney Torrance wanted to create a community south of Los Angeles. The plan was to mix the industrial and residential communities. The town was completed in 1912 and named after Torrance.
