Moreno Valley was originally occupied by the hunter-gather Native American tribe named the Shoshone. The first settlers to the area were Spanish explorers. The blazed several trails, such as the Anza Trail that cuts through the land now known as Moreno Valley. Arrest made after missing mana s body found in Moreno Valley field

Detectives arrested a 30-year-old man after the body of a missing 65-year-old Moreno Valley man was found lying in a field Sunday afternoon, Riverside County sheriff's officials said Monday. Victor Mendoza, 30, was arrested in connection to the slaying of Larry Valverde whose body was found in an overgrown area of an open field in the 23100 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, only a short distance from where Valverde was first reported missing, according to a sheriff's news release.

The man killed in a rollover in the San Jacinto area Sunday night, May 13, has been identified as Jose Domingo Borjas Diaz, 66, of Moreno Valley by the Riverside County Coroner's Office. Borjas Diaz died after his Jeep Cherokee overturned into a ravine along Soboba Road just east of Gilman Springs Road, authorities said.
