Long Beach man gets 16 years to life for stabbing another man to death

A Long Beach man who stabbed another man to death following a fist fight near a Santa Ana gas station was sentenced Friday to 16 years to life in prison. Jurors earlier this year convicted Logan James Cunningham, 29, of second-degree murder for the 2016 killing of Jason Paul Torres, 40, of Costa Mesa.

Chemical leak forces closure of terminal in Port of Long Beach

A storage tank leaked a few hundred gallons of a flammable liquid at the Port of Long Beach early Friday morning, forcing the closure of a shipping terminal and sickening several people. The leak of 250 to 300 gallons of dicyclopentadiene, a chemical found in resin, ink and adhesives, was reported about 12:30 a.m. at Pier T, which is operated by Total Terminals International, said port spokesman Eric Bradley.
