About: gardena, california

Gardena is located in southern California, just outside Los Angeles, in Gardena Valley. Some have thought that the city's name comes from its reputation of being the only green land between Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean during the dry season. Also, due to the fact that the city once had acres upon acres of berries, it earned the nickname “Berryland.” During World War I the berry industry of Gardena suffered, as other crops became more lucrative because of the war economy.
