One of two suspects arrested after Downey T-Mobile store robbery

One suspect was at large and a second was in police custody on suspicion of armed robbery after an attempted heist at a cell phone store in Downey on Sunday, Aug. 19. Witnesses told authorities that at about 12:45 p.m. a man came into the T-Mobile store at 9400 Firestone Blvd., announced that he had a gun and demanded merchandise from employees. He then left with a male getaway driver in a black Saturn, said Downey Police Sgt.

Giant RV Granted Tax Cut for New California Site

The Downey, Calif., City Council unanimously approved an agreement with Giant RV, giving the business a sales tax rebate in exchange for significant job creation. The Downy Patrio reported that, according to city staff, Giant RV will receive up to $504,000 over the course of seven years and create 55 new full-time jobs at the cite per the agreement.
