CMPD: Paintball wars could turn deadly

Homes, cars, even people have been targeted in recent weeks in the so-called "paintball wars". In one of the latest cases Saturday night, a suspect was caught shooting a moving car on Pegram Street.

Charlottea s New Light Rail Extension Increases Rail Ridership by 48 Percent

The Charlotte Area Transit System's LYNX Blue Line light rail service experienced a 48 percent increase in ridership with the opening of the Blue Line Extension. Service for the extension of the LYNX Blue Line began on March 16th and contributed to the increase in rail ridership along with contributing to a 6 percent year to date increase in light rail ridership over the previous year.

A student who attends a high school in east Charlotte was taken into custody after allegedly bringing a gun on campus Monday morning. According to officials with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the incident happened at Garinger High School located on Eastway Drive.

CMPD: 4 detained after robbing pizza delivery driver, leading officers on brief chase

CMPD responded to a call on Millennium Avenue in southwest Charlotte a little after 6:15 p.m. CMPD was told a pizza delivery driver was robbed and officers on scene were able to get a description of the vehicle the suspects were in. A short time later, officers found the suspect vehicle and all four occupants jumped and ran, CMPD said.

On Sunday, eight neighborhood associations and foundations came together to advocate for a bigger greenway network. More than a hundred people make a trek from Central Avenue to Morningside Drive in east Charlotte to show how paving one small section of the Queen City could improve walkability in the area.

Man wanted for multiple charges, cutting off monitoring device

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, 23-year-old Demetrius Lamont Jones is wanted for robbery with dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with dangerous weapon, damage to property and interfering with an electronic monitoring device. On March 25, Jones cut off his electronic monitor and was last known to be in the area of the 500 block of Pressley Road at the InTown Suites in Charlotte.

Man dies days after being seriously injured in east Charlotte car crash

Officials say the crash happened just before 9 a.m. in the 1500 block of Shamrock Drive near Farley Street. An investigation revealed a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by Jimmy Hamilton, was traveling on Shamrock Drive and ran off the roadway to the right at Farley Street.

Multiple people injured in wreck involving CATS bus in west Charlotte

The crash happened on West Boulevard at Fordham Road around 12:45 a.m. Officials on scene said the bus struck struck a utility pole in the area. A second vehicle was also involved in the wreck.
