Located 13 miles NE of downtown Los Angeles, Arcadia is best known as the home of the Santa Anita racetrack. During the war years, the racetrack was used as an Internment camp for Japanese Americans until they were moved further east and the make shift barracks were then used by the army. Arcadia boomed in the 50's and 60's and in that time the Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanical Gardens were created. The McDonald brothers actually opened there first restaurant in Arcadia in the 30's before moving on to open a small hamburger restaurant chain using their surname.

Officials on Monday identified the two men who died in a shooting in Valley Glen late Saturday that may have been a gang-related killing.
