Sheppard Air Force Base, a U.S. Air Force base, is located in Wichita Falls. The city was originally named after falls on the Wichita River, but a flood in 1886 destroyed them. 2 arrested in burglary on Monroe Street

Wichita Falls police were called to the 1100 block of Monroe Street on Sunday after witnesses called to say two people were taking items out of a residence and loading them into the back of a gold truck. When police pulled the truck over, the driver, 34-year-old Gaylon Dorsey, stated that he paid the passenger, 58-year-old Diana Chambers, $100 for a water heater.

Computer theft on 9th Street leads to jail time

Around 10:55 am on Sunday, Wichita Falls police responded to the 3100 block of 9th Street in reference to a burglary. When police arrived, they spoke to one of two victims who said a man entered their trailer, took a laptop, a laptop charger, and a mouse.

Plano woman sent books with weed hidden inside to inmate, police say

A Plano woman was arrested this month after she was accused of sending a prison inmate books with synthetic weed hidden inside. The Times Record News reports that Lydia Margaret Mann was arrested a week ago and charged with sending a prohibited substance to a correctional facility.
