Masked men rob business owners at Wake Forest home, police say

Police said the family returned home around 9 p.m. after closing the store they own in Raleigh. When they got to the house on Falconhurst Drive, three masked men robbed them at gunpoint, taking cash, investigators said.

19-year-old pulled from lake drowned, had drugs in system

A group of men riding four-wheelers discovered the body of Annalisa Christine Schulze, 19, of 7109 Avborough Court in Wake Forest, on Aug. 8. The Wake County Sheriff's Office said at the time that they would investigate the incident as a homicide. According to an autopsy report, Schulze's death is "attributed to drowning occurring in the setting of presumed impairment associated with marijuana and LSD drug use."

Mill Chill draws crowded field

The cold temperatures aren't expected to keep people away from coming out to support the second annual Mill Chill event on Sunday at Rocky Mount Mills. One man is left in grave condition after a two-vehicle accident on Thursday, according to North Carolina Trooper Robert Boyes. After a motorcyclist struck a minivan on Ebeneezer Road near Elkin, the 48-year-old male rider was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Police: Man in surgical mask forced people to withdraw money from ATMs

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the first incident occurred at about 11 a.m. in the area of Wakefield Commons Drive. In a 911 call, the victim tells a dispatcher that she was approached by a man wearing a surgical mask and holding a silver gun and was forced to unlock the back door of his car.
