The city of Temple, Texas is located in central Texas, 65 miles north of Austin and 34 miles south of Waco. The city has been called the "Wildflower Capital of Texas." In 1881, Temple was founded as a railroad town and named after Bernard Moore Temple, a civil engineer and former surveyor with the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad Company that established the town. Police: Man dies after struggle with Temple police officers

The Temple Police Department and the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation after a man died following a struggle with police officers. At about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Temple police officers were called out to Wayman Manor Apartments on East Avenue K in reference to a disturbance.

Fort Hood soldier injured by pickup truck driver in hit-and-run

Witnesses said a Ford pickup truck was following the victim's vehicle, and the victim stopped her vehicle and got out. The victim has been identified as a female Fort Hood soldier, and was transported to Darnall Army Hospital.
