The city has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to support litter cleanups and a tire amnesty program. The Ohio EPA grant requires that all cleanup activities occur on public property with the help of volunteers.

School officials are looking at ways to reduce calls about people using the Lincoln PK-8 basketball courts during late night and early morning hours, as well as reduce the amount of trespassing on Warren G. Harding High School's football field after its gates are closed. Warren Board of Education members were told during Tuesday's meeting that Warren police have been called by residents around Lincoln School in the late evening and at night to respond to calls about loud music and noise at the basketball court.

Road project bids sought

The townships of Hubbard, Champion, Howland, Johnston, Newton, Warren and Weathersfield, and Lordstown Village are participating in the second round of 2017 countywide road improvement projects. At least 15 local non-profit organizations won't receive their cut of about $150,000 federal tax dollars because Warren city leaders say they will no longer have the man power to administer the money.
