North Carolina man indicted in hammer attack on young son

A North Carolina grand jury has indicted a man after authorities say he hit his young son in the head several times with a hammer. The Winston-Salem Journal reports the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old Ramel Shabal Daye is jailed under a $1 million bond for attempted first-degree murder.

Wake Forest's sprayground opening delayed indefinitely

It was supposed to open this month, but Wake Forest officials now aren't sure exactly when the town's first sprayground will open for play. Town officials announced this week that the opening of the Taylor Street Park sprayground has been postponed indefinitely because of issues involving the subcontractor who was hired to pour the concrete.

Woman charged with DUI after driving into Wake Forest Walmart

Authorities said Rebecca Downing Wilson, of 70 Summit Ridge Court in Youngsville, crashed her car into the Walmart at 2114 S. Main Street at about 4:30 p.m. Police said prior to the crash at Walmart, Wilson was involved in a hit-and-run involving another vehicle near the Rent-A-Center at 11216 Capital Boulevard. The investigation into that crash is ongoing.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport released the following statement, "Late last night , the Airport Authority Police Department was notified that Allison Cope was found alive in Virginia Beach, Va., by the Virginia Beach Police Department. We have no additional details at this time."

Police said Allison Cope, 24, was a manager at the Starbucks in Terminal 2 and did not return from her break Monday afternoon around 3 p.m. RDU officials said Cope was last seen at the Shell gas station at 942 Durham Road in Wake Forest at 4:15 p.m. "Airport police have thoroughly reviews the video and there is no evidence that she is under any distress," RDU said in a release.
