Motorcyclist dies in Hwy 395 crash Friday

Cornelius Turner, of Victorville, died after being involved in a crash on Highway 395 and Palmdale Road, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials said in a Sunday statement. Turner was headed north on Highway 395 on a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle at 11:19 p.m. Friday when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided near Palmdale Road.

Electric Bus to Start Rolling in Lancaster

The world's first all-electric articulated bus will roll into service Friday in Lancaster, the Antelope Valley Transit Authority has announced. The 60-foot bus was built in Lancaster by BYD Motors Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle and battery maker BYD Motors Ltd. First delivered to the transit authority in May, the bus has since undergone preparation for service including being outfitted with technology for data collection, performance tracking and surveillance, the transit authority said.

Palmdale couple sentenced to life in prison for toddler's beating death

A Palmdale woman and her boyfriend were sentenced Monday to life in state prison for the brutal beating of the woman's 23-month-old son, who was left in a vegetative state for weeks before he died. Brandon Jerel Williams, 27, was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison after he was found guilty of first-degree murder, torture and assault on a child causing death, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
