Police: Man confesses to west Charlotte hotel robbery

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 41-year-old Dennis William Brown reportedly walked into the Country Inn and Suites on Little Rock Road and told an employee that he had a weapon and demanded money around 10:21 p.m. The robber then fled the scene, police said. Police described the robber as being 5-foot-8 and approximately 180 pounds.

Suspect in recent Myers Park, Dilworth sex offenses now charged in May rape case

The Charlotte man charged last week with sexual offenses in Myers Park and Dilworth is facing a rape charge from a third incident this year, court records show. Larry Jarome Bailey, 21, is now charged with first-degree rape connected to an incident that occurred May 30, according to a warrant.

Mena native Benjamin James, 23, has been charged with DWI in a northeast Charlotte crash that killed a man Friday, July 21. The crash happened at approximately 1:45 a.m. on N. Tryon Street at Austin Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to police, James was driving a 2013 Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed when he lost control and drove off the side of the road, striking a fence and a tree.
