Speaker decries dearth of affordable housing during MLK luncheon

That's according to Joe'Mar Hooper, Wisconsin Marker Leader for CommonBond Communities, one of the largest nonprofit providers of affordable housing in the upper Midwest. Chicago officials say more than 550,000 people took part in the second architecture extravaganza of its kind in the city that recently ended. A mayor's office statement says the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial also featured some 140 architects and designers from 20 countries.

Chicago man charged with making threats aboard Greyhound bus on I-94

A man accused of threatening fellow passengers aboard a Milwaukee-to-Chicago Greyhound bus Friday evening now is in custody, officials said. Margarito Vargas-Rosas, 33, of Chicago, has been charged with making terroristic threats, a felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, the Racine, Wisconsin, sheriff's department said during a news conference Saturday.

Illinois State Police responded to what was being called a possible hostage situation on a Greyhound bus Friday night on a southbound stretch of I-94 just over the Illinois/Wisconsin border. New home found for puppy with mutilated ears in Racine

The dog, named Molly, was found near Sanders Park and brought to the Wisconsin Humane Society in Racine with severe injuries to her ears. Small black rubber bands were found around her ears in which Humane Society officials suspect was a botched attempt to crop them.

A 6-month-old puppy that was found with her ears nearly severed in late December in Racine reportedly found a new home. The dog, Molly , was brought to the Wisconsin Humane Society's Racine campus after being found near Sanders Park with rubber bands tied tightly around her ears.

Wisconsin tiny home community provides housing for veterans

Milwaukee Public Radio reports that the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin has built about 15 tiny homes in Racine. The homes are only 128 square feet but come furnished with a TV, mini fridge, microwave and a couch that doubles as a bed.
