Perris woman accused of DUI following crash into power pole

After crashing into a power pole in Perris, a woman was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to Riverside County Sheriff's officials. Authorities say Taylor Dreese, 22, was speeding near the 2400 block of Murrieta Road around 6 a.m. when she missed a curve and crashed, according to a sheriff's statement.

Navajo fire prompts evacuations in Perris

Firefighters responded to the area of Navajo Road and 4th Street and found a quarter-acre fire, a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman said. Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Michael Vasquez said 10 homes had been evacuated on Dockery Lane at about 12:40 p.m. At 1 p.m., the fire, which is being called the Navajo fire, was approximately 4-5 acres with structures threatened.
