A security guard who was arrested after a prostitute fell out of his car is suspected of raping more than a dozen women or girls as young as 15 at gunpoint in Los Angeles County, police said Wednesday. Ferdinand Ervin Flowers, 35, of Long Beach, pleaded not guilty Wednesday with kidnapping to commit rape, robbery and assault, prosecutors said.

Authorities announced Wednesday they have arrested a Long Beach man suspected of raping several women over the last four years in South Los Angeles after two detectives saw a victim who had fought him off fall from his car. Police said at a news conference Wednesday that 35-year-old Ferdinand Ervin Flowers of Long Beach had robbed his latest victim, who is 19, at gunpoint in his car and had tried to force her to have sex when she fought him off on Friday in Lynwood.
