Environmental impact study on Riverside County pedestrian, bike paths OKa d by board

The Board of Supervisors signed off today on the final environmental impact study for a planned pedestrian and bicycle path traversing multiple Riverside County communities, leaving only design plans to be finalized before construction can get underway next year. "This really is a good thing," Supervisor Marion Ashley said of the Salt Creek Trail Project.

San Jacinto man dies at Hemet hospital; homicide unit investigating

The Riverside County sheriff's homicide unit is investigating the death of a 42-year-old San Jacinto man at Hemet Valley Medical Center. Osvaldo Navarro died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the hospital, according to a Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner's news release.

LOS ANGELES >> One of two Long Beach men accused of impersonating elderly and deceased owners of vacant properties they allegedly sold or tried to sell pleaded not guilty Wednesday to 18 felony counts. Andrew Hutchings, described by authorities as a real estate broker, is charged with six counts of identity theft, four counts of forgery relating to identity theft, three counts of procuring and offering a false or forged instrument, two counts each of money laundering and attempted grand theft and one count of grand theft of personal property.

Man struck, killed by truck while crossing street in Hemet

Alcohol may have played a role in a crash in which a 53-year-old pedestrian was killed in Hemet after he was hit by a truck Tuesday, police said. Robert Orrell, of Hemet, was struck while crossing the street by a 2005 Dodge pickup traveling south about 25 to 30 mph in the 100 block of Lyon Avenue near Florida Avenue, a police news release said.
