No suspects have been identified in a shooting Thursday in Akron's Goodyear Heights neighborhood that left a man with serious injuries, police said. "I'm not sure, but I don't remember a time when we had three former educators vying for seats at the same time," said Steve Coon, a retired coach and teacher who was elected along with former Copley High School teacher Paula Lynn and former athletic director and 23-year Copley High School assistant principal James Borchik.

On Jan. 11, Christopher Hendon, 26, of West Akron, pled guilty to 31 charges in connection with several incidents, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. The charges included seven counts of kidnapping ; six counts of abduction ; 15 counts of impersonating a police officer ; and three counts of illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone with firearm specifications .

A U.S. judge on Tuesday overturned an arbitrator's ruling allowing about 70,000 women to take part in a nationwide sex discrimination case against Sterling Jewelers Inc even though they had not opted to join. U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff in Manhattan ruled that only women who had opted to join the case against Sterling under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act when it was before the arbitrator could stay in the case.

2 injured, 1 critical following shooting in Akron; suspect arrested

A female suspect is in custody after police say she shot and injured two men early Tuesday morning in Akron. Officials say 49-year-old Hedy Moss was involved in an argument with two men on the 300 block of Gold St. when she shot both of them before fleeing the scene shortly before 5 a.m. One of the victims is currently in critical condition at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital, while the other is in serious condition at Akron City Hospital.
